1991 California Court of Appeal decision that the Goethe Academy was not entitled to a State tax exemption as a museum because it was closed to the public five days a week and only open by appointment two days a week. "The purpose of the exemption was to encourage the display of art and other items of value to the public. That purpose is not served by granting tax exemptions to warehouses where art is stored. . . ."
