Mickey Mouse and Boy Thursday

Book cover
Children's book published by Walt Disney back in the 1940s. Friday sends his brother Thursday to Mickey from Africa to get him educated, and wackiness ensues. While it probably wasn't Disney's intention to promote racism, in our post-structuralist days we see how such images of Africans (and, African-Americans) reinforced the ideas of racial inferiority and thus the justification for Jim Crow. Offered for historical perspective.
