The Project's General Description
Ruang MES 56 sees that one of the main pillar of the development of science, art and culture is the archiving of all discovery, events and humanity. In the context of Indonesia's cultural arts, everything has been attempted to document all its developments, including some visual documentation; photographs and the artist's potraits. The existing documentation (although it isn't as perfect as it should be) has the purpose of describing the artist in his artistic context. As an institution of study and documentation of photography, RUANG MES 56 targets to have some kind of more spesific visual data archive.
The mentioned archive will be a documentation in the form of collections of portraits that will consist of several artists' potraits that are able to capture the humanity and the daily life of the artist in a more detail and newer way.
This is an effort to appreciate them as a person that has a day by day life, a hobby and other profession.
A couple important points of this projects are;
1: The first Indonesia's artists documentation in the shape of a photography book.
2. Its distribution will cover South East countries.
3. Will also offer an online version of 2nd Pose at www.2ndpose.mes56.com
The Book's General Description
The 2nd POSE book, The Indonesia-Jogjakarta Artist's Potraits Series is the first Jogjakarta Edition that covers 100 people that has influenced, achieved and contributed to the development of Indonesia cultural arts.
Why so many are included from just one town?
The truth is we see that the development of Indonesia's cultural arts is not just the result of a particular individual or group, but more as a result of a joint participation of every individual and networks that were chosen from multiple categories that represent areas of study, creativity or work.
