Warrior, Chief, Patriot and State Prisoner are all titles which describe one of the greatest American men and an Indian chief. His story is told simply and with no apologies. Black Hawk speaks of the causes of the Black Hawk War of 1832 and of the injustices done to his people. Black Hawk believed that by writing his autobiography he could give historians the Indian point of view for the events that led up to war and shaped their history. This book is an excellent source for anyone interested in Native American history.
