CRZ Notification: A Case Study
This presentation made at a National Consultation on Environment, Human Rights and the Law in 2008, takes the example of the Coastal Zone Regulation Notification of 1991 and its series of amendments (dilutions). The lessons to be learnt from the study of the pressures and interests that such regulation is subject to is placed from the context of the tourism industry lobby who have successfully ensured that any âobstructionâ to their expansion must be speedily dismantled, notwithstanding its huge environmental and social costs.
