Book cover
"PIBS 3487E" "November 1996" "Report prepared for: Waste Reduction Branch, Ontario Ministry of Environment and Energy" Describes a project to develop a returnable container to replace the cardboard boxes and wooden skids employed in the transportation and storage of components used to manufacture urethane foam seat cushions for automobiles. The container that was developed consists of an identical recyclable lid and base made of double-wall polyethylene, with a recyclable triple-wall cardboard sleeve in between (known in the industry as a sleeve pack). The sleeve was in two pieces to improve the ergonomics of removing parts from the pack. Advantages and cost benefits of using the new type of container are noted, including those related to truck utilization, plant housekeeping, and productivity
