Bernard Furmerius's De rerum usu et abusu (Antwerp, 1575) is the source of the frontispiece, the Bible texts that precede the ill. and the Latin quatrains that follow them. The Latin texts on facing rectos are by Lubbaeus (with marginal glosses, some in Greek). See Landwehr Jan Wierix's engraved ill. also appeared previously in Furmerius's work. They are numbered 1-24, the 25th being unnumbered. Wierix's initials appear on ill. no. 2 Landwehr, J. Emblem books in the Low Countries Getty copy lacks the 14th ill., which should have been printed on D3v Binding: old limp vellum Ownership inscription on t.p., repeated on back pastedown: Tiburtii Milanesi et amicorum
