After Robertson's death, George Grub wrote a preface for the "Collections" and "Illustrations," containing a biographical notice of Robertson, which, with an Index of persons and Index of places, for both the "Collections" and "Illustrations", was published, 1869, as "The first volume" of the Illustrations Contains a large number of brief documents (charters, letters, notes, etc.) arranged by presbyteries and parishes
