This study describes John Archibald Wheeler's career as a mentor of physicists, how research philosophies and standards were passed through Wheeler by his mentors and transmitted to Wheeler's own students. This study also introduces a method of quantifing a given mentor's efficacy by examing the scientific productivity and significance of research published by that mentor.
