The captions identify the most prominent participants, many of them well known amateur stage directors and actors of Ferrara, including Roberto degli Obizzi who initiated the restauration of the antique theatre degli Intrepidi, also known as Teatro degli Obizzi (or di S. Lorenzo), Count Ippolito Bentivogli, a librettist and amateur actor at Teatro in Cortile (or della Capella o Bentivoglio), or Count Pinamonte Bonacossi who initiated the Teatro Bonacossi (or di S.
