Letters from England
Elizabeth Davis Bancroft (1803 - 1886) was the wife of George Bancroft (1800 - 1891), the American historian and statesman. In 1846 he was sent as Minister Plenipotentiary to London. On his return in 1849 he withdrew from public life, residing in New York. Letters from England, 1846-1849 (1904) contains extracts from Elizabeth Davis Bancroft's letters home during their time in England. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
