This study examines tree growth and fragipan soils on an upland forested site in south-central Missouri in four sections: (1) examining the relationship of the fragipan to landscape position; (2) examining physical and chemical properties on the study site and relating observed differences to the presence or absence of a fragipan; (3) examining the root distribution patterns of seven oak trees growing on the site; and (4) examining oak stem growth patterns on the site.
