American poet Chester Firkins' promising career was tragically cut short by his untimely death in 1915. A year later, there appeared this collection of his serious poems and humorous verse, gathered by his surviving sister, Ina Ten Eyck Firkins. The volume includes also a prefatory dirge, "The Last Night in the House," by his brother, Oscar W. Firkins.
