Public opinions and attitudes on outdoor recreation in California - 1992

Book cover
An Element of the California Outdoor Recreation Planning Program. From the Executive Summary : Broad-level planning for outdoor recreation requires current information about the attitudes and opinions, the current activities and the desires of the general public. To obtain such information, current as of 1992, a focused public opinion survey was undertaken, asking respondents their views on many aspects of those recreation areas and facilities provided by all levels of government, federal, state and local. This survey was undertaken by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, with the participation and strong support of the federal Bureau of Land Management and the United States Forest Service. This survey is a partial replication of a previous survey, taken by the department in 1987. While the present survey did not ask some of the questions asked in the earlier effort, it did include new areas of inquiry, most particularly questions on recreational motivation and willingness to pay. In addition, there was a separate survey dealing strictly with youth, people aged 8 through 17.
