Statement of the Bible Society concerning the Apocrypha

Book cover
The British and Foreign Bible Society, was formed and funded by Evangelical Churches. They found themselves disturbed by an increasing tendency within the BFBS to depart from its mandate, and to include books in the Bibles published by BFBS, that the funders had not authorized. This caused several challenges. The Edinburgh Bible SOciety wrote to express its concern. The issues of the printing of the Apocrypha has been somewhat addressed by Evangelicals in the following works: Review of the conduct of the directors of the British and Foreign Bible Society relative to the Apocrypha and to their administration which can be found at: http://www.archive.org/details/reviewofconducto00haldrich and A Plea for the [Inspiration and] Canon of Scripture which can be found at: http://www.archive.org/details/APleaForTheinspirationAndCanonOfScriptureBibleByTheBible Other material on the topic can be found under the search " apocrypha bible society".
