Excerpt:

...As the Executor of a writer who was the grandson of a slave and had to write counterfeit notes to borrow books from a segregated library to steal a literary education, I suggest a positive removal from the situation Google has imposed on us : a free, positive opt-out.

Let us remove ourselves from the situation (OPT-OUT) and create alliances amongst ourselves to multiply reasonable comment and creative discourse on it wherever forums can be created for us to be heard notwithstanding the diktat that opt-outs should not be heard.

Julia Wright Brussels, European Commission, September 7th, 2009
