In December of 2003, I strolled into the Los Artesanos Bookstore, a shop owned and operated by Diana Stein. She and her husband opened the shop four or so decades ago in Old Town Las Vegas, New Mexico. When I asked about books printed by the Writer's Editions, she was quite surprised that I had any knowledge of this small, but important facet of New Mexico's literary history. When I explained that I was Walter L. Goodwin Jr's grandson, she gladly opened her walk-in safe door (another classic relic from the frontier days of that "desperado" town) and showed me the grand prize of my years long search: a complete collection of the Writer's Editions, including some works printed before the arrival of the Rydal Press to New Mexico. After several weeks of research and negotiations, she agreed to part with the collection of the books she had laboriously collected over 25 years as gifts to her late husband. It is a very rare collection and my immediate desire was to share it with others. The entire Writer's Editions collection is represented here, though the entire Rydal Press & Arrow Editions were much more numerous.
These versions are in Adobe PDF format and contain searchable text. I have scanned all the printed material and reader's notes found in the books, omitting blank pages in an attempt to minimize files size. I hope you find them as interesting a collection as I have.
