Original title: Tvvo lamentable tragedies. The one, of the murther of Maister Beech a chaundler in Thames-streete, and his boye, done by Thomas Merry. The play may be an amalgamation of two earlier plays by Day, Haughton, and Chettle--"The tragedy of Thomas Merry" and "The orphan's tragedy," recorded in Henslowe's diary, but now lost. cf.
