a plea for liberty an argument against socialism and socialistic legislation

Book cover
A British classical liberal Thomas Mackay (1849 – 1912) in 1891 put together a collection of anti-socialist essays by leading classical liberals: Edward Stanley Robertson, Wordsworth Donisthorpe, George Howell, Charles Fairfield, Edmund Vincent, Rev. B.H. Alford, Arthur Raffalovich, Frederick Millar, M.D. O’Brien, F.W. Beauchamp Gordon and Auberon Herbert. The book was intended to rebut the socialist ideas contained in "Fabian Essays in Socialism" edited by George Bernard Shaw; and in 1894 was followed by "A Policy of Free Exchange".
