a wine of wizardry and other poems

Book cover
The title piece, "A Wine of Wizardry" is arguably George Sterling's most famous poem. A San Francisco Bohemian, he was friends with Ambrose Bierce and Jack London, and was an influence on Clark Ashton Smith and Robinson Jeffers. His poetry is full of fantastic and sometimes horrific imagery, such that it attracted the attention of H.P. Lovecraft and other writers of that Weird Tales circle.
