A play by an American playwright Augustus Thomas (1857–1934), generally acknowledged as Thomas's best work. Interested in occultism, the author created a story about telepathic phenomena, superstition and allied topics. The play is set in Kentucky and revolves around Jack Brookfield, a professional gambler. Idiomatic and clever work with all the qualities of American drama, of suspense, ingenious complication and dexterous working out.
The play was first performed in 1907. It is said that “The Witching Hour” was kept for ten years until the favorable time for it to be presented.
