Charles-Marie-Georges Huysmans (1848 – 1907) was a famous French author who wrote under the pseudonym of Joris-Karl Huysmans. Among his most famous novels it is possible to name the following: Le drageoir aux épices (1874), Marthe (1876), Les Soeurs Vatard (1879), Sac au dos (1880), En ménage (1881), À rebours (1884), En rade (1887), Un Dilemme (1887), En route (1895), La cathédrale (1898), La Bièvre et Saint-Séverin (1898). En route is devoted to description of the inner spiritual struggle of the main character Durtal who stays at a Trappist monastery.
