The Mooncable - A Profitable Space Transportation System (1972)
A proposal made in 1972 for building an anchored tether space elevator from the lunar surface through the Lagrange1- point toward the Earth, with its weight balanced across L-1. It was to have been built out of lunar-sourced fiberglass, and have a constant stress cross section (tapered)and have electrically conducting tracks that provided dynamic braking toward the earth from L1, to provide electrical energy for lifting more mass up from the surface toward L1.
