Predatory pursuit of ants by Anasaitis canosa
This publication describes the pursuit of ants by the jumping spider Anasaitis canosa. This is one of the relatively few salticid spiders (Araneae, Salticidae) that actively pursues and preys upon ants. This also documents the indirect or detoured pursuit of sighted ants by these active predators that dwell in leaf-litter habitats of the subtropical to warm-temperate forests of the Southeastern United States.
